Government Waste Money Again

$300 million dollars wasted on two ships that where never completed and never used. According to a report by The Virginian-Pilot the Benjamin Isherwood and the Henry Eckford, are destined to leave Virginia waters for good and be scrapped at a Texas salvage yard, with no money coming back to the U.S. Treasury. I know $300 million is a drop in the bucket in the amount of money the defense department wastes but this is but one example of government waste.

No Second Amendment in Baltimore

According to WBAL Mayoral candidate for Baltimore, Otis Rolley said he would, if elected, propose a $1 per bullet tax on all bullet purchases in the city. This is his way of curbing gun violence in Charm City. I guess it is beyond the grasp Mr. Rolley but for the rest of the thinking public this will do nothing but reduce the ability of the law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. Not to mention the clear violation of the Second Amendment which, affords one to protect his life, liberty, and property through arms? The gun laws in Maryland have done nothing to deter crime in the City of Baltimore. It has made easy targets of the men, women, and children who live by the law of the land while criminals run wild. Protecting people from violence is a noble goal but as a wise man once said “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

Ark. Town Council Bans Civic Group, New Organizations

An article from the New American caught my eye yesterday that should really not surprise anyone at this point in our history. The town council of Gould, Arkansas passed an ordinance that banned citizens groups from forming without their permission. Furthermore they have also forbidden and organization to meet with the mayor without their permission. This is a clear violation of the first amendment and freedom of assembly. The explanation for all this is that it will cut down on the friction between the council and the mayor. I have rarely seen this level of arrogance by a public servant.

Debt ceiling and the Economy.

An Associated Press article stated the following; President Barack Obama and a startling number of Republican senators lauded a deficit-reduction plan put forward earlier in the day by a bipartisan “Gang of Six” lawmakers that calls for $1 trillion in what sponsors delicately called “additional revenue” and some critics swiftly labeled as higher taxes. Well this is typical of Washington when they have a budget problem. Do we make hard choices and start living within the $200 billion a month in taxes collect on average? No we decide to add more in taxes so the spending can go on and on while incurring more debt. The unemployment numbers according to John Williams Shadow Statistics is 22.7%, or 68.1 million people are out of work.

From Stan Collender’s blog Capital Gains, and Games I don’t think the plan changes the overall situation at all unless House Republicans are suddenly willing to agree to the $1 trillion increase in taxes that they so far have been completely unwilling to do. The fact that the White House embraced the proposal so quickly may also make it hard…or even impossible…for the House GOP to get on board quickly From what I read of the plan it does nothing but make hollow promises to make cuts in the future and offering minimal cuts up front that will amount to nothing. In addition there looks to be $1 trillion in extra taxes as stated above.

Ben Bernanke is looking to add more money to the system in some form of QE3 only just a few weeks after he stated the opposite. Well typical Federal Reserve doublespeak. Promising one thing and then reneging on it just a few weeks later. Instead of continuing a problem causes by the Federal Reserve and the fraction reserve system. How about you do the best thing you can do in this situation which is NOTHING!!!! Yes, the economy will get worst in the short term but the built up poor investments that has taken place over the past two decades will start to unwind. A heroin user will start out just using a little day by day as a recreational user. But soon he will have to use more and more often to just feel normal. Before long they will need to use multiple times today to avoid getting sick. But, if they want to get better and not die of an overdose he will have to stop using the drug. This will cause a period of time where the user will be feel sick and feverish. But this is a necessary process to purge all the junk out of their system. In the long run they will be healthier and live a longer life. This is exactly what needs to be done to the economy before we overdose and the system dies.

Obama gave a speech about sacrifice on Monday when talking about debt ceiling. He stated that College loans may not be paid and Social Security may not get their checks if the ceiling was not raised. This is all a scare tactic to through you off the big picture. The government has run up huge debts in your name and is telling you to take out another credit card to pay down the interest and continue to purchase more. Congressman Paul asked this week if you would allow this arrangement to go on if your neighbor took out a mortgage and credit cards in your name and then continue to do so with the treat that if you did not acutest that the default would prevent you from purchasing goods and services. At some point we must bite the bullet and not allow the ceiling to be raised then and only then will the hard decisions be made and true and meaningful budget cuts be implemented.

Bigot and Chief

When in the hell will Herman Cain get a clue? In an article in the Personal Liberty Digest Herman Cain, a businessman seeking the Republican nod in the 2012 Presidential race, spoke out against a planned mosque Sunday. The CEO-turned-candidate said communities “have the right” to ban mosques, and to do so would not be “discriminating based upon (Muslims’) religion.” Despite the claim that he (Cain) is a strict Constitutionalist I guess he did get down to the part about freedom of religion. It is after all down in the Bill of Rights in Amendment numero uno. This guy is a former Federal Reserve Governor who sees no problem with the fraction reserve system and now apparently doesn’t mind if you discriminate on religion. In plain speak he is a dummy and should be laughed out of any serious consideration for the Republican Nomination.

Ron Paul one Day fund drive

The one day money bomb for Congressman Ron Paul’s Presidential candidate racketed up $604,100.50 yesterday on July 19th. He had just come in second place in second quarter fundraising with $4.5 million. He has been polling extremely well despite not getting much attention in the mainstream media. He has polled in the top three in many of the major polls most of the time in first or a close second. Congressman Paul has the best shot of winning that he has ever had. If you want a candidate who stands for what he believes in and will bring real meaningful change to this country than he is your candidate.

Debt Ceiling Slap Fight and the QE3 that Bernanke said wouldn’t happen

The deadline of August 2 is arbitrary as Joel Skousen’s states in his latest issue of

World Affairs Brief

(July 15, 2011). He points out that President Obama’s statement about the US defaulting on its bonds and not paying out Social Security checks will not go out is an outright lie. As the government would still have income coming in (about $200 billion a month) which would pay down on the debt as well as the SS checks and the only thing that would be stopped would be spending over the amount of money we take in which if you look at it objectively is exactly what a Balance Budget Amendment would require.Mr. Skousen also points out the poor plan set forth by Senator Mitch McConnell which would allow the President to raise the debt ceiling 3 more times before 2012 without getting permission from Congress, essentially giving the power of the purse strings to the President and castrating the Congress. All that is needed in return is to send a list of commensurate spending cuts which would be nonbinding thus unenforceable.Mr. Bernake is already changing his mind on Quantitative easing round three. Just a few weeks ago Ben Bernake stated that after QE2 there would be no QE3 (i.e. money printing). Well he has had a change of heart (hardly, he always wanted QE3) as the economy is still spiraling out of control.Republican Presidential Candidate Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) stated this Monday in his weekly newsletter what many who actually understand the debt ceiling debate that President Obama is using scare tactics to get his way instead of dealing with the debt issue.

From Texas Straight Talk
7-18-11,

Perhaps the most abhorrent bit of chicanery has been the threat that if a deal is not reached to increase the debt by August 2nd, social security checks may not go out. In reality, the Chief Actuary of Social Security confirmed last week that current Social Security tax receipts are more than enough to cover current outlays. The only reason those checks would not go out would be if the administration decided to spend those designated funds elsewhere. It is very telling that the administration would rather frighten seniors dependent on social security checks than alarm their big banking friends, who have already received $5.3 trillion in bailouts, stimulus and quantitative easing. This instance of trying to blackmail Congress into tax increases by threatening social security demonstrates how scary it is to be completely dependent on government promises and why many young people today would jump at the chance to opt out of Social Security altogether

TSA becomes the victim, Throws fit over Cahffetz, and other shenanigans
In other news the TSA has no problem molesting your daughters and grandmothers but turn the tablesand it is a felony. According to the
Mail Online Story

A 61-year-old woman has been arrested for groping a female TSA agent’s breast.

“Yukari Mihamae was flying home to Colorado when she allegedly put her hands on the TSA agent at Sky
Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. Police said she is accused of grabbing the agent’s ‘left breast through her clothing and squeezing
and twisting it with both hands without the victim’s permission’”

You have to love the irony of a government who can trample all over your rights but if you step out of line in the same manner whether it be in protest or just being an idiot they will come down on you like aton of bricks. I will be keeping an eye on this story as it develops. On a related note Jason Cahffetz (R-Utah) has been charged by Homeland Security for exposing security breaches while conducting an oversight hearing on the TSA last Wednesday. This charge according to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif) Issa, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, described Maher’s threats toward Chaffetz as “meritless”and pointed out that it was his committee’s job to address “TSA deficiencies.” Issa reiterated the fact that the information contained within the documents was not classified and declared it a “threat to the entire legislative branch that this administration will seek retribution when non-classified information is shared with the public.”

“The fact that the information in question was transmitted to the committee via an open e-mail over an open and non-secured network only underscores that this was not national security sensitive information,” Issa wrote, adding that he will open an investigation into “how and why” the DHS responded in such an aggressive manner.” As if the TSA could not sink any lower we have the story of Cubs manager Mike Quade who was detained in Phoenix after coaching the All Star Game. After serving as a coach on the National League’s squad for Tuesday’s All-Star game, Quade planned to fly home from Phoenix via a commercial flight.Instead of easily getting through Sky Harbor Airport, Quade was detained by the TSA for close to 40minutes. Quade was patted down twice and even taken into a back room, where his bags we re-screened.”I guess they thought I had a bomb or something,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “I never did tell him [my job]. I don’t do that. I was hoping they’d ask. I guess one of their alarms went off. You hear about it, but now I get the full pat down [and the question] ‘Are you sensitive in any areas?'” I guess it’s’ okay for the TSA to molest you but as shown earlier if you do the same to them it is a felony. All laws must be applied equally or they cease to be law.In addition to this injustice Radio talk show host Laura Ingraham was heading to Las Vegas this weekend and was robbed on the way. She was not held at gunpoint nor had her car broken into. Instead the fine folks of the TSA robbed her when she had her bag illegally gone through at the Newark International Airport under the rouse that it is for security purposes. I guess the fact that the 5th amendment of the US Constitution protects you from illegal search and seizure does not apply in an airport. We must put a stop to this undermining of our natural rights which the most crucial of which are outlined in the Bill of Rights.
The Daily Caller reports the story as follows: In her luggage was a small purple jewelry bag containing the cross she received at her Catholic baptism about nine years ago. “It’s from the Vatican,” Ingraham told The DC. “It was blessed by the Pope.” Ingraham told The DC she has been getting a “total runaround” while trying to track down answers about the theft and information about how to proceed. “The only people who, it turns out, were helpful, were the nice people at the Port Authority Police Department at Newark Airport,” she said in a phone interview. “After hours of trying to get somebody at Continental to even respond, the next day they [Port Authority police] helped me file an official criminal police report.” She said the process for reporting these kinds of crimes is so cumbersome that many people don’t have
the time or willpower to get to the bottom of them. For instance, Ingraham said a Continental Airlines customer service employee in Newark told her that she shouldn’t be putting jewelry in her bag in the first
place. “Blaming the victim is also a really lovely way to deal with the flying public,” she said. So it’s your fault if you put anything in your bag that is of any value as it is free game for the security staff at airports. Americans need to take a stand and say enough is enough. A bill brought to the floor by Congressman Ron Paul known as the American Traveller Dignity Act of 2011 protects us from such illegal searches of a person’s most prized property, her own body. The Bill points out
that any x-ray representation of a person’s body or physical contact of a passenger’s body is a crime. You can read thetext here; http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/C?c112:./temp/~c112Yj4EnY It is a whole two paragraphs so you should be able to read it before I finish typing this sentence. Please demand your Congressman bring the American Traveller Dignity Act of 2011 to the floor for a vote and force them tovote yes. In addition make a point to stand up against these injustices when you fly.!

Big Brother makes a lager presence in NYC

Hey everyone I can prevent traffic jams just let me watch every move you make and it will all be just fine. The EZPass tag you purchased to save money on commuting is being used to monitor your movements. As stated in the article below the readers will be used to monitor you so that they can better assess traffic jams. Sadly this is a violation of citizens’ rights as the NY EZPASS contract does not discuss anything about being monitored by the government when you sign up. (http://www.e-zpassny.com/en/about/terms_ind.shtml) CBS New York: The new program is sort of big brother-ish. An array of new traffic monitoring gear, including microwave sensors, traffic video cameras and E-ZPass readers will be used to measure traffic volume at 23 intersections. The technology will allow traffic experts to spot traffic tie-ups or unusual congestion and then do something about it.
